ASP in the wider world
ASP is very conscious of the impact it has on the wider community and aims to keep the negative effects to a minimum and generally do good things as and when we can. We are always looking for new ways to 'do our bit', particularly in the environmental sector, so please get in touch if you have any suggestions!
Online tools and the reduction of waste
- ASP encourages electronic communication by offering marketing solutions to help reduce print and postage volumes.
- We have reduced printing internally and externally and encourage our clients to do the same.
- We don't produce hard copy training manuals, which generally sit in someone's drawer unused, and store all documents online and or electronically where possible.
Recycling

We regularly recycle all our bottles, cans, paper, cardboard and printer cartridges. - The branded promotional items we giveaway are made from recycled materials, where possible.
- We've donated old computers and screens to ComputerAid for schools in developing countries.
- Office furniture and equipment that we no longer needed have been donated to Scope and the British Heart Foundation.

Where possible anything that is printed is printed on recycled paper.
Travel

ASP advocates making effective use of events so that companies can reduce travel time – meeting together as an industry at one time and in one place. - ASP's electronic systems help to facilitate meetings to make the most of time spent at an event.
- We have no company cars in the UK and rarely use cars at all for work! The ASP UK offices are located close to public transport for when employees or clients visit offices.
- In the American office we have a shared company car - a Toyota Prius Hybrid Car.
- ASP uses remote meeting software for training and some meetings, therefore reducing our travel requirements.
Gifts

We donate design services, websites and support to Live Life to Give Life - a charity to save and improve lives of all those in need of or receipt of organ and tissue donation. - Any non-electronic Christmas cards we send out are made from recycled paper and included a donation to charities

Some of our Secret Santa's have been replaced with donating money for chickens, goats, blankets, vaccines, school dinners and tree seedlings for families in developing countries.
Energy

We get regular reports measuring the ASP and clients server output. Our servers utilize the latest virtual hosting environment to reduce carbon footprint further. In fact, doing quieter periods our server clusters reduce in size to save electricity and cooling requirements. - Previously we have given away energy saving light bulbs at events and to clients as a small first step to reduce our carbon footprint.
- Our office lights are operated by movement sensor, reducing our electricity consumption.
